Insulin Resistance is Often Missed in Lean PCOS—An Example from A Study on the Microbiome

A fascinating new study was just released on the gut microbiome and PCOS: it confirmed that women with PCOS have very different microbiomes and fewer types of gut bacteria than women without it. The study concluded that this effect was due to testosterone and not insulin resistance or metabolic issues. However, the testing for insulin resistance wasn't sufficient to conclude that this was the case given the vast amount of research we have showing that insulin resistance is linked to changes in our microbiome.
